Together with Berlin architects Hausmarke osd won the competition for the roofing of the bus terminal in Wädenswil am Zürichsee. The proposed 'Wolke' is a light and wafting roof. A complex computer generated structure was supposed to be supported by only few, asymmetrically arranged and prestressed pillars. In order to transmit the cloud-like shape into the structural design the profiles of the supporting structure were not adjusted according to the torque curve. The optimization of the structure regarding the statically very differently stress levels in the grillage has been realized with the inner porosity of the girders. Using a new scripting-process developed on our own the girder grillage made of steel sheets has been guttered Vierendeel-like. Eventually a completely glazed steel construction that responds to the different ligh situations during a day with varying luminosity and shadow effects has been implemented.
